Welcome to Natural Resources and Translation Research laboratory
Discover • Develop • Translate
At the Natural Resources and Translation Research laboratory, we are dedicated to advancing research at the intersection of pharmaceutical sciences, nutraceuticals, and natural products. Our work is driven by a passion for harnessing nature’s potential for better healthcare, with a special focus on the Himalayan bioresources and other natural resources for their applications in drug discovery, and sustainable therapeutics.
Our group is actively involved in:
✔ Natural Product-Based Drug Discovery and metabolomics– Identifying and characterizing bioactive molecules from natural resources. Our focus area include depression, postpartum depression, maternal health and cancer.
✔ Nutraceuticals & Functional Foods – Exploring plant-based compounds for health benefits beyond conventional medicine.
✔ Advanced Drug Delivery Systems – Enhancing drug efficacy through novel formulations and nanotechnology and their bioanalytical methods developments.
✔ Grassroots Innovations-Therapeutic validation of the leads obtained through grassroots innovations/ethnopharmacology.
✔ In silico studies and Network pharmacology-Mechanistic exploration of natural compounds using in silico and in vivo models.
Our Vision
The Natural Resources and Translational Research Laboratory envisions becoming a leading global hub for discovery, standardization, and translation of bioactive natural products and traditional medicines into evidence-based therapeutics. The laboratory is committed to nurturing ethically responsible scientists, fostering national and international collaborations with academia and industry, and advancing metabolomics, artificial intelligence, systems biology, and precision phytopharmaceutical research. Through innovation-driven research, technology transfer, and commercialization, the laboratory aims to establish world-class Centres of Excellence, develop globally accepted phytopharmaceutical products, and facilitate the translation of research outcomes into clinical applications and market-ready healthcare technologies that contribute to national development and global health.
Strategic Vision (2035)
1. Develop internationally recognized researchers with the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and scientific excellence.
2. Establish a Centre of Excellence in Bioactive Natural Products, ASU Medicines, and Translational Research.
Develop a National Metabolomics Research Centre for natural product research.
3. Foster multidisciplinary collaborations with leading universities, research organizations, hospitals, and industries across the globe.
4. Translate laboratory discoveries into validated healthcare technologies through TRL 8–9, regulatory approvals, and commercialization.
5. Develop at least one CDSCO-approved phytopharmaceutical drug for clinical use.
6. Become a leading research hub for AI-enabled natural product authentication, quality assurance, precision phytomedicine, and translational pharmacognosy.
